How Traveling Inspires My Art Process
Every piece of art I create is infused with the memories, colors, and emotions of my travels. I believe travel isn’t just about the places we go but about how those places make us feel. Every brush stroke tells a story; that story begins with travel. If you’ve been with me for a while, you’ll notice how my travels intertwine with my work. I often paint and sketch places I’ve been to and have been known to bring many art supplies with me on my journeys.
Art On The Go: Packing Your Watercolor Art Supplies Kit
Every trip, I make it a point to bring art supplies. When I started doing this I would try my best to create full-on finished pieces throughout my travels. I realized this wasn’t the best way to utilize my time.
Now, I take my art supplies with me to create a visual journal of my trip. I stop and paint a part of what I see, jot down some notes, or start a piece that might inspire another later. Think of this like taking a picture to refer to later. I want to capture the moment in its beauty, and when I return home, the place often finds its way into my other pieces.

Art Has The Power To Take Us Places
When you bring art into your home, it can take you places and transfer your everyday life into a destination. Whether it’s a beautiful oceanscape that reminds you to slow down and relax or a wintery scene that makes you smile, any piece can take you somewhere else. That’s what I want my art to feel like. I want my art to take you somewhere, remind you of the nostalgia you feel for a certain place, or just bring a smile to your face. That’s what traveling does for it. It allows us to experience new people, places, and perspectives.

Last year I took a trip to France! But it wasn’t just a normal trip, it was an artists retreat. I invited any artist who wanted to explore, learn, and create, to join me. This trip was more than I could have hoped for. It brought together wonderful people and allowed us to enjoy new food, new company, and new pieces together. We spent the time at a chateau where we ate, slept, and most importantly created together. Created memories and artwork.
